Crepuscolo is a period of transition, the time between daylight and darkness when only soft light is visible. My works are inspired by this delicate and uncertain light and the metaphorical meaning of this moment. It represents a liminal space, a between space which is not defined. Dreams, visions, transparency and attributes of light such as reflection and glow as well as the soft nuances of colour are important in my recent paintings.
My work explores fundamental elements of painting, the relationship between colour, line and form. The important factors in my paintings are movement, rhythm, layering and new spaces created by colour. My painting is process-based and through experimentation of different materials I create a series of works. The theme of the latest series is a study on perception. By using materials that reflect light I have created paintings that don’t have a stable visuality, instead they are in continuous movement according to the viewers standpoint. Spatiality and multi-sensoriality become key components of my paintings.
